Within the context of the interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts (Honours) program in European and Russian Studies, students take a core of three and a half (3.5) credits including courses on European history, European integration, literature and society, economic issues and a capstone fourth-year seminar. > Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris, France St. Isaac Square, St. Peterburg, RussiaProgram Requirements - Regional Concentration: Program Requirements - Regional Concentration Each student will select a regional concentration relating to Europe and European Integration or Russia and its neighbors. Students will complete seven (7) credits in the concentration from a wide range of choices in a variety of fields (history, political science, law, sociology, etc.). There are over 50 courses through the various departments that participate in the Institute’s programs. The Institute itself offers many interdisciplinary seminars at the fourth-year level. >Program Requirements - Language: Program Requirements - Language Each student must achieve proficiency in a European language other than English, depending on the student’s concentration area. Students may meet the language requirement by completing three (3) specified credits of language courses, (i.e. Russian, German, French, Italian, or Spanish) or by passing a language examination in any of these languages or in Polish. Students selecting a European concentration may choose from French, German, Italian, Spanish or Polish. Students in the Russian Area concentration must complete the requirement in Russian. >Exchange Opportunities - Carleton International: Exchange Opportunities - Carleton International Students in the Institute’s programs are eligible to apply for study abroad in the final year of study through Carleton International’s academic exchanges in: Austria, Belgium, England, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, the Russian Federation, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, and Wales. >Exchange Opportunities - Summer: Exchange Opportunities - Summer Each year Carleton’s Russian language program assists students of all levels in arranging to spend from four to six weeks at the University of St. Petersburg to undertake study of the Russian language, for up to two full course credits. >Resources - Libraries and Research Centres: Resources - Libraries and Research Centres Students participating in the program have at their disposal documents, periodicals, newspapers, and micro-materials on the European countries located at Carleton University’s MacOdrum Library. The research activities of EURUS are an integral part of its overall program.
