Solar energy can really be a great way to save money, but is seems so unrealistic to people of our time. The convenience of my electrical service in Raleigh at http://www.bryantdurhamservices.com is an irreplaceable service. They have really saved me when I was having problems with my heating.

Slide1:

RENEWABLE ENERGY. NOT JUST AN ALTERNATIVE

What is Solar Water Heating?:

What is Solar Water Heating? A solar water-heating system uses clean, non-polluting energy from the sun to heat water.  It minimizes the expense of electricity or fossil fuel to heat the water and reduces the associated environmental impacts. Installing a solar water heater can greatly reduce energy bills because it uses energy from the sun to heat the water… at zero cost.

How does Solar Water Heating work?:

How does Solar Water Heating work? Fluid inside the collectors absorbs the heat and is circulated through the system… The energy of the sun is captured by solar collectors on the roof.

Slide4:

…the heat from the fluid is absorbed by the water stored inside a solar tank.

Slide5:

From here, it is used throughout the home or business. The heated water is then transferred into a standard hot water tank or boiler

Why should I choose solar?:

Why should I choose solar?

Slide7:

Solar uses less energy and saves you money

Slide8:

Water heating accounts for 20- 30% of an average household's total energy use and creates about the same proportion of greenhouse gas emissions

Gas prices:

Gas prices Natural gas demand in North America is increasing at approximately 3% per year while supply is only increasing at about 1%

Slide10:

Consumers in BC now pay 100% more for natural gas than in 1999.

Gas vs Solar:

Gas vs Solar Solar energy costs never increase.

Slide12:

Solar energy can provide up to 60% of annual hot water demand. Over 20 years, a solar water heater displaces more than 50 tons of carbon dioxide emissions created by an electric water heater Solar energy systems increase the resale value of a property

Swimming Pool Heat:

Swimming Pool Heat Solar energy is a very cost effective method to heat swimming pools. Most pool systems pay for themselves in 1-5 years. Pool use can be extended for up to two additional months (April – October)

Slide14:

In-Floor Heating (Hydronics) Radiant floor heating is an efficient way to heat your home by circulating solar heated water underneath or within the floor.

Commercial hot water:

Commercial hot water Solar hot water provides significant long-term savings to owners of commercial and large residential buildings

Commercial and industrial applications are some of the most cost effective systems for solar hot water.:

The more water that needs to be heated, the more money a solar water heating system can save. Commercial and industrial applications are some of the most cost effective systems for solar hot water.

Financial performance:

Financial performance The investment return on Solar Hot Water systems is comparable or better than most GIC’s

Financial Performance:

Financial Performance Solar Water Heating systems are one of the most cost effective and efficient ways to reduce energy consumption. Government incentives can reduce initial system costs by 25% or more no PST on solar products/services in B.C. Finance the initial cost and pay for the system out of the savings

Financial benefits:

Financial benefits Return on Investment – 10-14% Life Cycle Costing – 3 - 7 cents/kwh CMHC recognized and approved No PST on solar products or services in B.C.

Financial Incentives:

Financial Incentives Solar BC Solar Hot Water Acceleration Project Residential Rebate Homeowners can obtain grants of up to $700 from the NRCan REDI Program and a further rebate of $20/GJ from the province of British Columbia. Commercial Grants Commercial systems can also qualify for grants up to 25% of the cost of purchase and installation of solar hot water systems.

Financial Incentives:

Financial Incentives Energy Retrofit Assistance Program The Energy Innovators Initiative through the Office of Energy Efficiency includes the installation of renewable energy technologies for commercial buildings. Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance and Canadian Renewable And Conservation Expenses Class 43.1 allows taxpayers an accelerated write-off at up to 30% per year of equipment generating electricity from solar electric systems larger than 3 kW and active solar systems generating thermal energy.

Slide22:

The Renewable Energy Deployment Initiative (REDI) is a federal program that offers 25% toward the installed cost for commercial solar water heating systems

Additional benefits:

Additional benefits Cost Effective Solar hot water systems use sunlight, which comes to us free, as fuel to heat water. Many have no moving parts which means they need little attention. High Reliability A properly installed solar hot water system will require little maintenance and should last more than 20 years.

More benefits:

More benefits Clean and Safe Solar hot water systems use clean, non-polluting solar energy to heat water.  They can offset the equivalent of approximately 40% of the carbon dioxide of a modern passenger car. Modular Systems can be sized to meet your hot water requirements.  If your needs grow, you can easily add to the system. If you move, you can take it with you.

Slide25:

Solarcrest Innovations offers several types of renewable energy systems and services to help you reduce expenses and contribute to improving the environment.

Solar Power Systems:

Photovoltaics (PV) Wind energy Microhydro Hybrid Systems Solar Power Systems Extend your energy and financial savings with the installation of a power system that enhances your solar hot water system and long-term energy savings

Slide27:

Solar Electricity Photovoltaic (PV) cells produce electricity directly from sunlight, a free and inexhaustible energy source. PV is distinct from other kinds of solar energy in that it harnesses the sun's light, rather than its heat. Photovoltaic cells are extremely low-maintenance and have a long lifespan.

Slide28:

Wind Power Wind Power wind power is generated through the use of a turbine, usually mounted on a tower. The turbine collects wind energy and converts it to electricity which is transferred to a breaker panel or battery bank. Allows you to rely on the existing utility power as a backup

Slide29:

Electricity from Water Microhydro is hydroelectric power produced on a small scale (less than 100kW) that uses a stream or other running water for power It is one of the most environmentally supportive forms of energy generation available today

Slide30:

Hybrid Solar Power Hybrid power systems combine two or more energy sources that, when integrated, enhance available power, reduce reliance on conventional energy and overcome limitations inherent in either.

Slide31:

Various Applications Solar power systems can be used to provide electricity in many situations where conventional power is not available
