About Us "Creating Liberty to Move"  has been our mission since our founder Petra Walke laid the cornerstone for the Migration International Group (MIG) in 2009 with the first office in Sydney, Australia. In the meantime, MIG has grown to 4 offices in Australia and New Zealand, further branches in North America and our headquarters in Germany . We think internationally and we act locally. Melbourne Migration International is the Victorian network of the Migration International Group, a subsidiary of the Sydney Migration International GmbH, a highly respected family company.

Australian Citizenship Citizenship. The final stage in most migrants journey to Australia. With it, a passport, the right vote and reside, without travel restrictions, in Australia . Most migrants will typically apply for Citizenship by Grant, this means being a resident of Australia for at least four (4) years and at least twelve (12) months of that time, the holder of a permanent residency visa. In some instances, people apply for Citizenship by Birth, whereby an applicant, whose parent is either an Australian Citizen or Permanent Residency, applies on grounds of ‘descent’ through family.

More About Australian Citizenship Further still, if you do not believe you will meet the residency requirements of Citizenship by Grant, it is possible to request and apply for Citizenship via a unique and preferential process. This process may apply to those who have specific jobs – ship’s captain, a role in the defence force etc. Jobs that require you to be outside of Australia on a more regular basis . Finally, if Citizenship is not an option at this stage, regardless of how hard you try, there is always the Residency Return Visa that, if eligible for it, will provide additional time to meet the requirements, and provide for travel outside Australia in the meantime.

Committing to a State or Territory As with all visa applications, sufficient evidence must be submitted to the Department in order for a speedy and informed decision to be made. This process also applies to State and Territory Nomination. A key document of the Nomination process is a Commitment Statement – explaining why you, the applicant, deserve to be nominated by the Government for this particular visa . The Commitment Statement must cover many items, but should focus on how your skills and experiences will benefit the State or Territory you applying through, why you want to relocate to this particular location – perhaps you have family there, or maybe you have holidayed there and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

Committing to a State or Territory Your Commitment Statement also needs to describe the research you’ve conducted in regards to the location – for example, what are job prospects like in your occupation, what sort of housing opportunities are there, will you and your family be the best fit for the State or Territory ? The Commitment Statement is, in effect, an argument covering all the multiple reasons why you are the best candidate for the visa, why you and your family should be nominated for migration, and why it is in the State or Territory’s best interest to approve your application.
