Premium member Presentation Transcript Harrison Alexandar McKenzie This is his story.: Harrison Alexandar McKenzie This is his story.Slide 2: We went into our 20 weeks scan and found out that our unborn baby boy had a condition called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. This is where the diaphragm wall has a hole in it and the stomach contents move up into the babies chest cavity and affects there lungs. We started with 50% chance of surviving. After extensive testing our babies chance decreased to 30% survival.Slide 3: Harrison was born on the 14 th September 2010 at the Mater Hospital Brisbane Australia.Slide 4: Harrison was born in excellent condition for a diaphragmatic hernia baby. He had 1 good lung, but this lung had a hole in it.Slide 5: When I saw my son for the first moment my world altered. He was beautiful. The nurses told me that he was a fighter he kept pulling out his tubes. I was so excited that my baby had attitude, he needed it to get through this.Slide 6: Harrison’s brothers were so excited to meet him. It all looked scary with all the tubes.Slide 7: At 2.30am on the 15 th September 2010, Harrison took a dive. The nurse told me that he was stable but his blood pressure hadn’t come up. He never recoveredSlide 8: We were told in the afternoon on the 15 th September 2010 that there was nothing else that they could do.Slide 9: Our Son was dyingSlide 10: How do you say goodbye to someone you love so muchSlide 11: I was suppose to be able to hold your hand forever, not for one daySlide 12: Harrison died in my arms at 5.30pm on the 15 th September 2010. In that moment my heart was taken.Slide 13: You were so LovedSlide 16: The world may never notice If a snowdrop doesn’t bloom, Or even pause to wonder If the petals fall too soon. But every life that ever forms, Or ever comes to be, Touches the world in some small way For all eternity. The little one we long for Was swiftly here and gone. But the love that was then planted Is a light that still shines on. And though our arms are empty, Our hearts know what to do. Every Beating of our hearts Says that we do love you.
