Premium member Presentation Transcript Project Presentation : Project Presentation Rusmeco in a Nutshell: Rusmeco… is a Specific Targeted Research Project (STREP) within the 6th Framework Programme (Specific Measures in Support of International Co-operation) of two year duration (May 2005 – Apr 2007) is a truly trans-national effort of 12 organisations from Western Europe and Russia with the aim to enhance Russian SME collaboration and business development will do so by creating and maintaining communities of practice in regional networks in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Ekaterinburg Rusmeco in a NutshellProject Context and Motivation: Project Context and Motivation Supporting SMEs = Supporting Economic Growth Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play an important economic role in Russia, yet this sector employs less people than in Western Europe Russian SMEs, despite having significant innovation capabilities, often struggle to compete on a global scale due to a lack of appropriate management methods and management skills Management Tools for SMEs are rare and mostly designed to Western European standards, their applicability in Russian settings is limited and therefore questionable An important means to improve the SMEs’ performance, is to give access to necessary knowledge and expertise, i.e. to connect organisations and people Project Objectives (1/3): Higher Competitiveness for Russian SMEs in Global Markets The aim of the EU-funded RUSMECO project is to raise the competitiveness of innovative Russian SMEs through establishing an inter-regional network of communities of practice between SME clusters in Moscow, Russian SME Resource Centre (RCSME) St.Petersburg, Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) & Association of Centers for Engineering and Automation (ACEA) Ekaterinburg, SME Development Committee & Ural IT Professional Club Project Objectives (1/3)Project Objectives (2/3): Better Knowledge Exchange and Management Education The intention of these communities of practice is to enable SMEs and other interested organisations to share knowledge and experiences on subjects of common interest and thereby to enhance individual management capabilities and SME performance. This will allow managers to regularly get in touch with peers that share similar problems keep himself/herself up-to-date with regard to relevant information take better and faster decisions based on experience Project Objectives (2/3)Project Objectives (3/3): Provision of a Platform with appropriate Methods and Tools The management support for SMEs will be adapted to their needs. It will especially cover subjects related to Innovation: marketing, intellectual property rights and technology transfer, Management of external relationships: value-chain aspects (interaction with suppliers and customers) Management of internal processes: quality management annd internal communication processes. Community Set-up, Test and Facilitation Project MilestonesEnvisioned Results and Solutions: Envisioned Results and Solutions SME-Tailored Support and Solutions A web-based platform, offering collaboration tools such as chats, online workshops and discussions forums used within communities of practice A knowledge repository with case studies, training modules, articles and reading lists, and links to experts that will be used to make knowledge easily accessible for all members A self-assessment tool to help companies further specify their main problems.
