With over 1.2 million people watching the event live around Sydney Harbour, 2 million across Australia one television and around 600 million via satellite around the world it is one of the most recognized New Year’s Eve Celebrations on the planet. Slide4: Sydney has a good mix of public and private transport the car is predominent due to the city's sprawl, particularly in the west. Sydney Harbour Bridge: Sydney Harbour Bridge The Sydney Harbour Bridge is one of Australia's most well known and photographed landmarks. It is the world's largest (but not the longest) steel arch bridge with the top of the bridge standing 134 meters above the harbour. Fondly known by the locals as the 'Coathanger', the Sydney Harbour Bridge celebrated its 70th birthday in 2002, with its official opening in March 1932. Bondi Beach: Bondi Beach Bondi Beach is one of Australia's most famous beaches and among the world's most well-known beaches. Slide8: Sydney hosted the Summer Olympics of 2000.
