IFSCInter-Fraternity Sorority Council: 

IFSC Inter-Fraternity Sorority Council Inter-Fraternity Sorority Council was formed in the early 1980s. The Inter-Fraternity Sorority Council (IFSC) is the student governing body of the Greek system at Boston University. The IFSC general council is made up of delegates representing each chapter. IFSC goals are to promote Greek life and the ideals of brotherhood/sisterhood and academics among each member of the Greek system. Throughout the year IFSC organizes several philanthropic, community service, social, and academic programs to fulfill these objectives.

1965-1980: 

1965-1980 Greek Interest wanes at BU Many national organizations pull out of BU BU Fraternity Houses Sold 1980-1990 Greek Interest Reborn IFSC Created Many Chapters re-charter Numbers increase for many chapters and interest is high

1990-1995: 

1990-1995 Four Chapters removed from campus 1996-Today Outstanding Fraternity and Sorority recognized each year IFC restructured to include formal/informal recruitment Over 400 women participate in formal recruitment 2007

Greek life today: 

Greek life today An active IFC and Panhel Council meets weekly Currently one full time Greek Advisor and one part time graduate intern assisting Greek organizations Organizations working with administration to build stronger relationships with the university. The Dean of Students has held open discussions with Greek Leaders to hear and share concerns. The Dean has shown support through attending IFC and Panhel meetings as well as donating funds for a recruitment kick off event held.

Greek life today: 

Greek life today Over 400 women took part in Formal Recruitment in 2007. Seven out of the eight chapters participating made quota plus 5% IFC recently implemented new rules regarding recruitment. In addition to updating recruitment regulations, changes mandate a structured open house and approval of recruitment calendars. A system of Fraternity standards has been implemented to help pinpoint areas that may need more attention. There has been a strong push towards cooperation among Fraternity Men and Women. IFC and Panhel have been working together on many projects including Greek Week, Membership Retreats, Recruitment, and Philanthropy Activities
