Lots of great things happened in Degas’s life, so he had lots of memories to die with.

Artist’s Art:

Artist’s Art His Art Degas painted and sculptured lots of things. Degas started in the Renaissance time, but changed to his modern time. During the time he lived it was the Franco-Prussian war. Degas used paint, pastels and he used bronze for his sculptures. When his vision began to get bad he used more colors and simplified compressions. (Simplified compressions mean simpler things that he painted.) Degas often worked in pastel especially in the 1880`s. In the 1870`s he got interested in Ballet. So he went to the Opera house to watch dance. The last 20 years of Degas’ life he lived alone, as a recluse. When he became almost blind he modeled sculptures so that he could feel the texture. Degas always loved drawing in pastel, although he mostly painted his pictures. He also liked to draw or paint: Families, Racecourse scenes, Performing women and Nude women.

Artist’s Art:

Artist’s Art When Degas painted nude women he only put one person in the picture. When he painted a family they were mostly together. ie: The Dancing Lesson ie: Dancers in Green ie: The False Start ie: Orchestra at the Opera Degas tried to paint: 1. Landscapes 2. Dancers 3. Racehorses 4. Nude Women Degas tried a lot of subjects because he was fascinated by a lot of things.

Artist’s Art:

Artist’s Art Fascinating Facts about Degas’ ART 1. Degas was an acknowledged master for drawing the human body while in motion. He was best known for paintings, drawings, bronze ballerinas and racehorses. 2. He took part in all but 1 of 8 impressionist exhibits between 1874 and 1886. 3. He produced over 300 pictures on the racecourse theme. 4. Over half of Degas’ art are ballerinas 5. Degas hated women, but he was strangely fascinated by the nude female. 6. He also loved to paint as if through the key hole, painting people to look like they didn’t know he was there. Degas painted a lot of paintings in his day.

Accomplishments:

Accomplishments His Accomplishments Degas accomplished a lot of paintings and sculptures while he was alive. Degas’ most famous painting is “Dance Class at the Opera.” Degas painted it in 1872. This painting is a perfect example of Degas’ fluid style. The painting is 32cm 46 cm and is oil on canvas. The painting now hangs in the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. Degas’ most famous sculpture is “ The Little Fourteen Year Old Dancer.” It was made from 1878 to 1881. This sculpture is made from bronze, gauze tutu and Satin ribbon. The height of the sculpture is 99 cm. The sculpture now belongs to the Norton Simon Art Foundation, in Pasadena. My favorite painting is “ The Dancing Lesson.” It was painted in 1874. This painting is oil on canvas, and is 85cm 75 cm. I like this painting because it is interesting, his use of color is amazing. I also like the way he made the ballerinas in the painting look so real that they look like they are in a photograph. In this painting it looks like everyone in the room is listening to the famous instructor, Louise Mérant, even though he is speaking to only one ballerina. Degas’ art is very realistic and every painting is SUPER!

Conclusion:

Conclusion Conclusion Degas’ art is so amazing that all the wonderful words in the world could not express it. Degas is very unique because he is one of the few people that could paint things while they were in motion. He also painted people to look like they could not see him! Degas was very interesting because he used so many different mediums, such as: oil paints, pastels, bronze, and pencils. It was a lot of fun studying Degas and it now makes me feel like I have known him all of my life. Saxon!
