SPD Technology in Windows SPD-Film integrates with glass or plastic windows 40 Years in development Technology is owned by Research Frontiers Inc. and protected by 300+ worldwide patents All manufacturers of SPD-based products require a license from RFI Film consists of Liquid Emulsion containing sphere’s of 100’s of Polyiodide Crystals, curried to a solid state using uV Emulsion surrounded by two Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Mylar-like plates containing an internal conductive layer of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO). Special electrical signals across the two ITO layers, cause the crystals to align, thus passing light through the film. Stopping current, returns crystals to a light blocking mode.
