Challenge course Indoor Climbing Programs— this is what we did with the kids! Climbing Center Hours: M-F 8am-10pm Sat 10am-10pm Sun 10am-6pm http://www.petracliffs.com/index.htm lSlide5: We arrived before the kids to take a belaying lesson Once the kids arrived we helped get them ready—put harnesses on etc. For the rest of the evening we helped belay kids, and basically were “extra eyes” to make sure things didn’t get too out of hand Slide6: Costume dance, for the center’s older kids—roughly ages 13-16 We chaperoned, “patrolled” the dance floor and the surrounding area to make sure there were no “illegal” doings. We were also in charge of the refreshment table. Quite the experience—to say the least! We saw many unexpected things that evening: the bumping and grinding the making out—with whoever is closest the supposed drug use etc…. Center…..: Center….. We knew we wanted to work with kids—but our first choices (King St. Youth Center and Boys & Girls Club) did not need any more volunteers. So we talked it over a little bit, did some research—and decided on the Sara Holbrook Center. In the end we were quite happy with our decision—granted we may be scarred for life, but we really did enjoy the time we spent with the kids.Slide8: Kids can really be downright cruel to each other—especially girls Often will act out to get attention Today’s youth is growing up far too fast With this age you really have to be patient and watch what you say—they are very impressionable You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
