Introduction :

Introduction Spintronics depends on spin of electron, not the charge. Spin can be easily manipulated using magnetic field. The movement of spin, like the flow of charge, can also carry information among devices. It is believed that in the near future spintronics could be more revolutionary than any other technology.

SPIN VALVE TRANSISTOR :

SPIN VALVE TRANSISTOR It is based on magneto resistance, found in multi layers (Co-Cu-Co) forming the base region. The collector current becomes strongly field dependent, the extreme magneto sensitivity makes the transistor, an interesting device for high technology hard disks and magnetic RAMs.

ADVANTAGES:

ADVANTAGES Spintronics memories are non volatile. Low voltage operation. High speed, Reliable. Less Power dissipation. Amplification and / or switching properties of the Device can be controlled by the external magnetic field applied to the device. Switching time is very less compared to normal RAM chips.

LIMITATIONS:

LIMITATIONS Controlling spin for long distances. Difficult to Inject and Measure spin. Interference of fields with nearest elements. Control of spin in silicon is difficult .

Conclusion :

Conclusion With lack of dissipation, spintronics may be the best mechanism for creating ever-smaller devices. The potential market is enormous, In maybe a 6-year timeframe, spintronics will be on par with electronics. That's why there's a huge race going on around the world In exploring Spintronics.
