A Tribute to Elvis By Darling Dolly

:

Do you remember this famous picture of Elvis dancing to the Jailhouse Rock?

Slide 4:

The classic 1950’s style jacket was awesome in black with bold white top stitching!

Slide 5:

The black and white bad boy theme continued with the wide striped shirt. The look ROCKED !!!

That classic Elvis black and white look has been transformed into a rocking design for American Girl dolls!:

That classic Elvis black and white look has been transformed into a rocking design for American Girl dolls!

Slide 7:

Elvis would love this design for American Girl. It rocks just like “The Jailhouse Rock” look did back in the day!

Slide 8:

Although drawn in white with black exaggerated top stitching, the actual garment would be made in black leather with white exaggerated top stitching. Of course, it could be made in both looks for a more versatile wardrobe! The entire outfit is constructed in black and white. However, because it is made in separate pieces, it would be quite easy to use the pieces to accent other outfits. Super cool big black shades, black tights, and black leather knee boots complete the rocking look.

Slide 9:

The design of this jacket starts out using BLACK LEATHER with white exaggerated top stitching. (Remember, in order to show the details, the jacket has been drawn as white with black details.) White buttons run the length of the front. The collar continues the bold top stitching. The sleeves are set in using flat tucks. This give a better fit and easier access for the American Girl Doll.

Slide 10:

The material for the sassy striped dress is made using a white jersey stretch material as a base. Gross grain ribbon in ½ inch black is sewn on the white jersey every ½ inch. This technique gives the illusion of a black and white striped material. Once the material is constructed, the dress pieces are cut out. In a dropped waist fashion, the three ruffled rows are attached to the plain white bottom of the dress. Hook and loop tape is used as a closure down the back of the dress. The boat neck and long sleeves finish off this mini length sassy dress.

Slide 11:

To the right are close ups of specific parts of the outfit. The top pictures a close up of the ruffle bands along the bottom of the dress. Note that the ruffle itself is constructed with solid white jersey fabric using a rolled hem in white thread for a clean finish. It is gathered to produce a double edged ruffle. The gathered ruffles are attached slightly bunched together along the bottom of the dress. Black gross grain ribbon in a ½ inch width is sewn down the center of each double ruffle to mimic the black and white striping. The ribbon for the pony tail hair do is a length of white jersey material with a 1/ 2 inch gross grain ribbon in black sew down the middle. A black leather covered button is placed in the center of the bow area. This pre tied bow is attached to a purchased covered rubber band.
