It seeks these objectives through programs, projects, and activities focused on: helping to create and advance efforts to improve the quality of life of youth and young adults, especially those living in or near poverty. YABT is a private sector initiative affiliated with the General Secretariat of the OAS It is a non-profit corporation, recognized by the US Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c) (3) organization YABTThe Young Americas Business Trust: The Young Americas Business Trust Purposes: Help create opportunities for employment Foster greater awareness among governments, the private sector, and the public Formulate strategic plans to help encourage and accelerate entrepreneurial development Support the development of effective programs to foster youth entrepreneurship Collaborate with governmental and private sector organizations and entities to increase technical and financial assistant to support entrepreneurial development initiatives. This project combines Cultural Identity protection, Basic Business Skills and Information Technology Training to build the capacity of Indigenous Youth. InfoBiz will consolidate essential business related information from all OAS Member States in a one-stop on-line resource center. Slide13: Technology to Benefit Entrepreneurs and Organizations Business to Business technology has the potential to open new avenues of trade for Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs, in the Americas. The AmericasB2B software platform allows SMEs access to new markets through connecting them electronically to banks, financial institutions and other businesses. The YABT, in conjunction with Institute for Connectivity in the Americas, ICA, and the creators of the software, ARRAY Development, is building a network of small business and institutions to pilot this software. If implemented on a wide scale, this software could reduce the cost to SME’s and open the export market to their goods AmericaB2BSlide14: Technology to Benefit Entrepreneurs and Organizations “Distance learning would help to reduce the following obstacles to further education: “geographical distance to educational institutions; work schedules; institutional space constraints; and limited financial resources.” General Objectives: To provide long distance learning opportunities at the tertiary level through information and communications technologies (i.e. the internet). Specific Objectives: To increase the number of students pursuing tertiary/university education; improve teacher training; and tailor syllabi relevant to the needs of the developing countries/ communities where the CCEDEN will operate.
