Slide6: See note on ELA chart. Slide7: In 2003, writing was tested in grade 4 for the first time. See note on ELA chart. Slide8: This is the first year for English Language Arts (ELA) test. The score is obtained by combining reading and writing. The writing score from the 6 point rubric was doubled to give it more weight in the total ELA score. Changing from a 4 point rubric to a 6 point rubric for scoring began in 2003. The listening is not counted in the integrated ELA score because it is an optional test.
