Corn Production in Missouri In 2007 Missouri corn farmers: Harvested over 3.2 million acres of corn Produced 461 million bushels Contributed more than $1.8 billion to this state’s economy.

14% of Missouri’s Corn Production Used in Ethanol Production : 

14% of Missouri’s Corn Production Used in Ethanol Production Missouri has 5 majority farmer-owned ethanol plants which can produce 620,000 tons of a high protein feedstock called distillers grains With the increase in production as well as DDG’s, corn growers are meeting the demands for food, feed and fuel.

Missouri Soybeans Missouri’s #1 cash crop In 2006, the soybean meal value was $1.223 billion 194 million bushels were produced in 2006

Soybeans & Biodiesel : 

Soybeans & Biodiesel Missouri has 10 biodiesel plants producing 150 million gallons For every gallon of biodiesel that is produced, 30 pounds of soybean meal are created 4.5 billion pounds of soybean meal are expected to be produced in Missouri this year as a result of the biodiesel industry

DNR Permits for Confined Animal Operations Environmental management plan to: Identify soil types Identify soil tests Identify types of crops to be grown Determine slope of the land Ensure manure is applied according to plant needs. None of the effluent re-enters the waters of the State.

Why Did We Move Animals Inside? Because we could do a better job of caring for our animals Because we could do a better job of managing manure nutrients from animal production.

Future Generations : 

Future Generations Today’s farmers and ranchers want to take care of their natural resources to pass them down to their children Missouri agriculture must be allowed to grow to ensure future generations have a place to come back to on the family farm.

Safe U.S. food is among the safest in the world and Missouri farmers and ranchers are committed to making further advances in food safety

Biofuels and Food Supply : 

Biofuels and Food Supply One bushel of corn provides: 32 pounds of starch, OR 33 pounds of sweetener OR 2.8 gallons of ethanol fuel AND 13.5 pounds of gluten feed AND 2.6 pounds of gluten meal AND 1.6 pounds of corn oil. For every gallon of biodiesel that is produced, 4 gallons of livestock feed are created. Livestock and poultry consume 94 percent of all soybean meal that is produced. Biodiesel doesn’t remove food from the supply chain. Soybean oil is the only part of a soybean required to produce biodiesel.

Affordable : 

Affordable Missouri farmers and ranchers are committed to producing affordable food Food Check Out Day U.S. consumers spend 10% of their disposable income on food each year Japan spends about 14%, Israel 20%, China 26%, the Philippines 38%, and Indonesia 55%
