Mary anoints Jesus with very expensive/precious perfume/oil (it was inside an alabaster box).…. : Mary anoints Jesus with very expensive/precious perfume/oil (it was inside an alabaster box).…. Why did she do this? What was she preparing Jesus for??? Cont… : Cont… As Mary anointed Jesus, (she was preparing Jesus for his burial) his disciples saw it and became upset at the woman. They knew the oil was VERY EXPENSIVE!! Have you ever wanted to do something for Jesus (pray, go to church, sing a church song) and someone else got upset about it? (explain) Mary continued to anoint Jesus, she didn’t focus on what others were saying about her. Jesus was important to her, Jesus was her focus. Slide 5: Mary showed an extravagant (wonderful) act of love. She showed that she worshipped, served, reverenced, and honored Jesus. She showed that she loved him with her whole heart. She gave him the most valuable thing she had and Jesus was pleased… By using that expensive/precious oil to anoint Jesus, this showed that Mary gave Jesus her best. (Same as we should always give Jesus our best)!!! 100% People who truly love others will find a way to show it. How can we showJesus we love him? How can we show other people we love them?? : How can we showJesus we love him? How can we show other people we love them?? (Matt 25:40) Remember… : Remember… When we give to Jesus, it is important we give from the heart (sincere). It is important is to give Jesus ourselves. (Sacrifice ourselves/our life). It is good to give… it is a good way to express love. (Same as God loved us so much he gave his Son Jesus to die for us, and there is no greater love than that). Become like Mary, she expressed great love for Jesus Christ. This showed that she was faithful, and that she believed in Jesus. All the good things we do unto Christ for his glory shall be remembered, and it will follow us. Show love… : Show love… You may not always have money or expensive items, but you will always have the ability to give yourself to Jesus. You can give your time, your talents, and help around your church. This week, not only tell someone you love them, but SHOW it!!
