Premium member Presentation Transcript Accessing the Message Board : Accessing the Message Board Presented by MAREI Start from here – just logged in : Start from here – just logged in Once logged in you should land on our calendar of events. From time to time you may receive a message just for members, but most often you will end up on the calendar. Start from here – just logged in : Start from here – just logged in Look on the menu bar on the left hand side of the page and look for “Message Board” Click to access the Message Board or The Q & A board as we some times call it. Main Message Board : Main Message Board The main message board Looks something like this To give you a run down of the top menu bar “Home” goes back to the main page “Member Area” goes back to the logged in member area. Main Message Board : Main Message Board “My In Box” goes to private messages from others on the message board. “Preferences” allows you to select how YOUR message board works and you can set up your signature Main Message Board : Main Message Board “Logout” takes you out of the message board, but does not log you out of member area. Search allows you to search the message board for a topic. Preferences : Preferences Let’s go back and click on “Preferences” To see what you can do Preferences : Preferences You can set up an alias – your name on the message board, fill in any contact info you want to share, insert a signature for postings and set preferences. When complete be sure to click “Update My Information” to save Preferences : Preferences This screen lets you know your update to your profile was successful. Now click “Message Board to go back to the Main Message Board Main Message Board : Main Message Board Once you set your preferences you are back here. The folders at the top allow you to select posted discussions for Today Those since your last visit Or Topics you specifically subscribe to Main Message Board : Main Message Board For instructional purposes we are only going to look at the General Forum. All the other forums work the same, although a few may only let the moderator post for you to read. So to start let’s click on “General Forum” General Forum : General Forum Before we click note that there is a brief bio of what the forum is about. Number of topics Number of Posts The Last post listed Not click on “General Forum” General Forum : General Forum Note at the very top is a run down of how the message board works that you can download and print. General Forum : General Forum You can subscribe. Then all posts will go to your email address on file. Unsubscribe and you get no emails. General Forum : General Forum New Discussion is how you start a new post. And clicking on any of the topics will show you the discussion stream on that topic. Discussion Stream : Discussion Stream For example when we clicked on Garage Doors in the previous panel we ended up here. We see the original message at the top and the replies below Discussion Stream : Discussion Stream Over here you can click reply to open a message box to send a reply Click on profile to find out more about the posting person. Or you can send a p.m. that ends up in the private message box we showed you earlier. Discussion Stream : Discussion Stream You can move forward and back ware in the messages with these buttons or, I personally like to click “General Forum” to go back to the main list of message in the general forum. So let’s click “General Forum” and see how to make a post.
