The LSS Miracle Software for the HP 35s Calculator :The LSS Miracle Software for the HP 35s Calculator VERTICAL CURVES Program (V) ___________________________________________________ Overview and explanation Program “V” allows the User to input grades, length of curve, station identification and elevations. After this preliminary information has been entered the program computes the High/Low Point, as well a elevations on the curve at selected stations. Additionally, Program “V” allows the User to specify an elevation on the vertical curve and the station of that elevation is displayed. Vertical curves are presumed to be equal tangent, Unequal tangent vertical curves are simply compound equal tangent vertical curves. ___________________________________________________ WARNING: Do not remove the batteries for more than two minutes or use the “CLEAR” “ALL” function or the programs in the calculator will be destroyed. Please read the first two pages of the manual that comes with the pre-programmed calculator before attempting to operate it.

The LSS Miracle Software for the HP 35s Calculator :The LSS Miracle Software for the HP 35s Calculator This program computes all elements of a vertical curve when provided with input about the curve’s parameters. This includes multiple stations which are input at the User’s discretion. User is prompted to enter the required variables their initials as defined in the table below. Use the “R/S” button to move to next argument. Use the “R/S’ button to move through the answers. CURVE ELEMENTS •Length of the curve (PVC station to PVT station……………………… “L” •Incoming grade in percent (+ or -)………………………………………. “I” •Outgoing grade in percent (+ or -)……………………………………….. “O” •Station of PVC, PVI or PVT (User’s choice) …………………………….. “S” •Elevation at PVI or PVT (User’s choice)………………………………….. “E” •High or Low Point horizontal distance from PVC………………………. “X” •Elevation of the high or low point………………………………………….. “Y” •Next Station number…………………………………………………………… “X” •Elevation at a given station…………………………………………………… “Y”

The LSS Miracle Software for the HP 35s Calculator :The LSS Miracle Software for the HP 35s Calculator This program can compute elevations at given stations or stations from given elevations. When given an elevation that does not fall on the curve or the roadway the calculator will display “SQRT(NEG)”. In all other cases where an elevation is given that falls on the roadway, two locations are given to the intersections of those elevations with “X” distances displayed as distances from the PVC. Test Data Length of Curve (L) = 400.000' Incoming Grade in Percent (I) = 2.0000% Outgoing Grade in Percent (O) = -3.0000% PVI Station = 10+00.0000 PVI Elevation = 100.000 HI-LOW Point Station = 9+60.0000 HI-LOW Point Elevation = 97.6000 Elevation at Station 8+00 = 96.0000 Elevation at Station 9+00 = 97.3750 Elevation at Station 10+00 = 97.5000 First Station of Known Elevation 96.0000 = 8+00.0000 Second Station of Known Elevation 96.0000 = 11+20.0000
