The LSS Miracle Software for the HP 35s Calculator MAGNETIC DECLINATION Program (D) ___________________________________________________ Overview and explanation This program applies declination values to convert ancient bearings or azimuths to true bearings and azimuths. Then, if declinations are provided true bearings or azimuths are converted to current bearings and azimuths. The well-known protocol of quadrant identification is used as follows: Northeast – Quadrant “1” Southeast – Quadrant “2” Southwest – Quadrant “3” Northwest – Quadrant “4” ___________________________________________________ WARNING: Do not remove the batteries for more than two minutes or use the “CLEAR” “ALL” function or the programs in the calculator will be destroyed. Please read the first two pages of the manual that comes with the pre-programmed calculator before attempting to operate it.

The LSS Miracle Software for the HP 35s Calculator This program allows the User to apply magnetic declinations to bearings or azimuths and displays the resultant bearings and azimuths after the magnetic declinations have been applied. Data entry is as follows. User is prompted to enter the first angle as either a bearing or azimuth in HMS format using the techniques described in Program “B” herein. Use the “R/S” button to move to next argument. User is prompted to enter either the first West “W” or East “E” magnetic declination in HMS format. This declination is used by the program to compute the True Azimuth and True Bearing. Use the “R/S” button to move to display the True Azimuth and True Bearing in HMS format.

The LSS Miracle Software for the HP 35s Calculator Continue: User is prompted to enter either the second East “E” or West “W” or East “E” magnetic declination in HMS format. This declination is used by the program to compute the Current Azimuth and Current Bearing in HMS format. Use the “R/S” button to move to display the Current Azimuth and Current Bearing in HMS format. No sketch is necessary to perform these computations.
