TABERNA :

TABERNA The taberna was used as a shop in the Roman houses. It had an entrance from the outside but it didn’t lead into the inside of the house.

vESTIBULUM:

vESTIBULUM The vestibulum is the entrance hall in the Roman homes. The vestibulum is the corridor that leads from the main door into the atrium.

Atrium :

Atrium The atrium is the formal entrance hall in the Roman houses. The atrium consists of a impluvium which is a basin or pool that collects water and a compluvium which is the hole in the ceiling that rain falls down through.

Cubiculum :

Cubiculum The cubiculum is a small room or bedroom in the Roman houses. The cubiculum was a room that was of less importance to the Romans and that’s where they spent the least amount of time.

TRICLINIUM:

TRICLINIUM The triclinium is the dinning room in the Roman house. It is used when the family wants to din in at the house.

tablinum:

tablinum The tablinum is the office or study in the Roman house. The head of the family is usually the only one who uses the tablinum .

Culina :

Culina The culina is the kitchen in the Roman House. The kitchen was usually small, dark, and poorly ventilated.

Peristylium/hortus :

Peristylium / hortus The peristylium is the garden in the Roman home. The garden included grown herbs and flowers as well as small statues.
