Approximately 1.8 million Americans have HIV 25% don’t know they are infected: >250,000 people 65,000 new infections each year in U.S. 14,016 AIDS deaths in U.S. in 2006 In Phx,Arizona it is estimated 19,000 people are living with HIV. In 2008, there were 1000 newly infected people with HIV in Arizona. In Arizona, about one in 500 people are HIV positive In Arizona, about one in ten African Americans are infected.
