What is Health? : 

What is Health? • Your personal def. of health • Health– This word is etymologically connected to the English words “heal, whole, holy, hallow, hale, hail,” which all go back to the Proto- Indo-European root *kailo- whole, uninjured. Thus, in its original and fundamental semantic essence, the word “health” connotes “wholeness”, while the science of healing has as its ultimate goal to bring the individual back into his/her original state of “wholeness and oneness”. Thomas Berry “ A healing of the Earth is prerequisite for the healing of the human.”

Dr. Goswami (noted quantum physicist and author) states, “that all our suffering comes from ignorance, ultimately. The ultimate disease, the root disease, is the illusory thinking that we are separate from the whole, which is ignorance. To heal the disease of separateness is to realize that we are whole, we have never been separate, that the separation is an illusion.” Goswami, p. 250 The Quantum Doctor (2004)

Current Health Model : 

Current Health Model Paradigm of Disempowerment – Our current paradigm is ineffective – witnessed in economy, ecology, geo-politics, healthcare, education, religion, language and consciousness. Makes Health and Healing an External Concept – we rely on drugs, surgery and others for our healing. Our current health care model disempowersthe individual by giving over to the health care industry one’s ability to heal. We need to create a system where the individual becomes more responsible for one’s own health. Still many benefits of the current health paradigm – i.e. ER/Trauma

Cartesian/Newtonian Paradigm : 

Cartesian/Newtonian Paradigm Descartes, Newtonian physics and the Age of Enlightenment produced a whole new Cosmology and Paradigm of Consciousness,Secular Materialism, that has influenced our current models of economy, ecology, science, politics and health care. This Cosmology reinforces our Psychology and Biology that the human being is a machine. We even see this reflected in our language - The Human Machine, Conquering disease, etc. The specialization in the health and medical fields – psychiatry, cardiology, neurology, etc.

Western (Cartesian/Newtonian) Medicine : 

Western (Cartesian/Newtonian) Medicine Newtonian Physics and Cartesian Cosmology determined the Current Medical Paradigm Views the Body and the Cosmos as Machines Current Model Treats Human as a Machine Separation of the Physical and Spiritual Ignores the role of Consciousness, or sees it as an epiphenomenon.

Economic & Environmental Impact of Current Healthcare Model : 

Economic & Environmental Impact of Current Healthcare Model In 2006, global spending on prescription drugs topped $643 billion. The United States accounts for almost half of the global pharmaceutical market, with $289 billion in annual sales. (Herper, Matthew and Kang, Peter (2006-03-22). "The World's Ten Best-Selling Drugs". Forbes Magazine) Current Healthcare system is shackled to the CIC (Commercial-Industrial Complex) Health Insurance Costs - In 2007, total national health expenditures were expected to rise 6.9 percent — two times the rate of inflation.1 Total spending was $2.3 TRILLION in 2007, or $7600 per person.1 Total health care spending represented 16 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).U.S. health care spending is expected to increase at similar levels for the next decade reaching $4.2 TRILLION in 2016, or 20 percent of GDP.1 http://www.nchc.org/facts/cost.shtml Toxins in Environment; Animal Testing Health Care Paradigm driven by Financial Profit on Illness/Disease. The Pharmaceutical and Insurance Industries are largely driven by profit rather than on advancing the health of the individual. Current healthcare paradigm is really illness-promotion. If people became healthy and became empowered to heal themselves, insurance companies and pharmaceuticals would be out of business! Also consider the 3.5 billion people on the planet who don’t even have access to proper health care.
