These are the most common characters in the book. There are a lot more but these are the most common ones that are used recently. MAIN IDEA : MAIN IDEA The main idea of the book is about a girl, Elizabeth, who is having family trouble when she thinks everyone in her family is going to war, World War II. It says in the book that the father went to war when Elizabeth was 4. To make things worse she had a baby brother and the mom agreed to send him into war when his is old enough. So every question Elizabeth asked was answered with “because of the war”. So the main idea is about Elizabeth having every boy in the family go to war and she is upset about it. EXPLANATION OF GENRE : EXPLANATION OF GENRE The genre of the book “Autumn Street” is historical fiction. I know this because the setting of the story is during world war II. Also I know this because it says in the book that they needed to practice at school a drill if the enemy was somehow going to bomb the school. My final reason is that Elizabeth and her sister Jessica both had to wear dog tags so the people knew who they were. Everyone in the school had to wear one. This is the explanation of the genre from the book “Autumn Street”. RECOMENDATION : RECOMENDATION I recommend that you do read the book “Autumn Street” for many reasons. One reason is because I think it is really funny. It is funny because it tells in a part that Elizabeth and Charles (the cooks grandson) each had to pull down their pants and show their underwear to each other which was making them both laugh like crazy. Also another part I thought was funny was when Elizabeth and Charles both sneaked into their neighbors houses and thought the neighbors dad was a spy. This is why I recommend the book “Autumn Street”. SUMMARY : SUMMARY The book “Autumn Street” is a very interesting book. It is about a girl named Elizabeth who has her dad away in a war, World War II. She moves in with her grandfather and she does not want to. Her mother is going to have a baby and she agreed that if it was a boy that she would send him to war when he is old enough. Elizabeth did not like that one bit. The whole family was expecting a baby boy. She tried to convince her sister to make the baby into a boy and that didn’t work. So Elizabeth said that she wanted to be a boy. Except Jessica said you can’t because when you get older you will get pregnant and boys can’t get pregnant so that totally jammed Elizabeth's ideas. She gets a baby brother and I guess she is pretty happy about it. What will happen next? Will Elizabeth ever see her dad again? Will this war finally end? You maybe asking me “Well tell me! Tell me now!” But all I say is that if you want to know more then read the book “Autumn Street” Hope you enjoy the book! Slide 7: IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF SLIDES ARE A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS THAT READERS MOSTLY HAVE. DID THE FATHER HAVE TO GO TO WAR? : DID THE FATHER HAVE TO GO TO WAR? Well no because the father made the choice of defending for our country. It was a big decision but finally the father said yes I am helping my country. HOW DID ELIZABETH FEEL ALWAYS BEING CALLED MESSY? : HOW DID ELIZABETH FEEL ALWAYS BEING CALLED MESSY? Elizabeth feels that her sister, Jessica, is totally opposite of her. Jessica is pretty she has good curls she is always neat. On the other hand Elizabeth is (thinks she is) ugly she has uncombed hair and she is always messy. She doesn’t care if she is messy its just that she doesn’t like to be compared to her sister. WHY WAS ELIZABETH SO AFRAID OF GOING TO THE END OF AUTUMN STREET? : WHY WAS ELIZABETH SO AFRAID OF GOING TO THE END OF AUTUMN STREET? Elizabeth always thought that turtles will be at the woods and they will eat her up. Charles wanted to go but Elizabeth is smart enough not to go. That is why she is afraid of going to the end of Autumn Street. HOW DOES ELIZABETH FEEL ABOUT CHARLES IN THE BEGINNING AND IN THE END OF THE BOOK? : HOW DOES ELIZABETH FEEL ABOUT CHARLES IN THE BEGINNING AND IN THE END OF THE BOOK? ENDING In the end of the book Elizabeth falls in love with Charles. I know this because it says that she said that she wanted to marry Charles. Also because she was always with Charles and always wanted to be with Charles. And my final reason is because when Elizabeth and her mom went to the bathroom to wash their hands Elizabeth told her mom that she loved Charles. This is why I think that Elizabeth is in love with Charles in the ending of the book. BEGINNING In the beginning of the story Elizabeth felt that Charles was weird. She thought this because Charles will always hide inside the sink cabinet and never come out. Also she thought Charles was weird because he had a knife. My final reason is that he never used to talk he would always peek at Elizabeth and when she turns around Charles quickly starts hiding again. This is why I think that Elizabeth thinks that Charles is weird in the beginning of the book.
