Step 1: Activate Your Net ID: 

Step 1: Activate Your Net ID CS newsgroups are restricted to UIUC students, faculty, and staff Go here:https://webapps.cs.uiuc.edu/services/newsgroups/ Set your password Once you do this, you won't need to do it again – just remember your password so that you can set newsgroups up on whatever computer / news client you want https://agora.cs.uiuc.edu/display/tsg/news.cs.uiuc.edu

Earlier Versions of Windows: 

Earlier Versions of Windows Only for versions of Windows before Vista. Download the installation package and profiles from http://www.cites.uiuc.edu/vpn/dl-win.html Create a new temporary folder, such as C:\VPNTemp\ and extract all the profiles and VPN installation files into it. Now locate the setup file in this directory and proceed with the installation, like any other standard installation.

Earlier Versions of Windows Once the VPN Client is installed and your computer has rebooted, start the client from Start -> Program Files -> Cisco Systems VPN Client -> VPN Client Click connect to open a popup, where you can type in your username and password. Remember – you have to use your AD password, the one you use for your college email. Once you click OK, the window will minimize and you’ll see a closed-lock icon in the taskbar. You are now connected to VPN.
