Me & My PDHPE Experiences

What types of Physical Activity did you participate in?:

What types of Physical Activity did you participate in? Always running around, as I had an older brother Animals Dance 3year of age – present Netball – Year 6/7 Volleyball – Year 7 – Year 12 School sports such as, touch, soccer, netball Social comps – multi sport

Why did you choose these activities?:

Why did you choose these activities? Enjoyment – I always wanted to dance! Netball – My friends made a team, so of course I had to join Volleyball – something different that I wanted to try. School sports – enjoyment, friends, got to try different sports Social comps – mixed teams with friends.

Influences of these activities?:

Influences of these activities? Dance – not really sure, no one I knew danced. It was just something I wanted to do. Volleyball – PE teacher at high school was the volleyball coach. He was fun and knew what he was talking about. School sports/ social comps – mostly friends. All the cool kids played sport My brother played cricket, soccer etc. he was always getting me to play.

Did your choice of physical activity change with age?:

Did your choice of physical activity change with age? Dance – I still love dancing. It’s my favourite thing to do! As I got older, I did lose a bit of interest in the ballet side. I don’t learn to dance anymore, I just teach which is just as enjoyable Volleyball – as I finished high school I didn’t have the opportunities to play as much as I did during school. Injuries also affected this.

Did your choice of physical activity change with age? Cont. School groups – again, as I finished school I lost the opportunities I had. Social groups –the team I was in ended up with people moving etc. The local comp also ended. I’m trying to get it back though 

What are your current attitudes/feeling associated with Physical Activity?:

What are your current attitudes/feeling associated with Physical Activity? I believe that physical activity is not as important as it used to be. I loved playing with my friends outside, even competing against them, playing tip and being involved in school teams. Technology is what I believe is killing physical activity. It’s something that has become way more dominant then playing outside or even being with friends.

PowerPoint Presentation:

As I know how much enjoyment I got out of Physical Education I have involved myself in the active afterschool community coaching program. I am currently coaching 4 different schools each week. This is enjoyable as I know I am doing my part to help children be active, even if it is only an hour/hour and a half each week. As long as they are having fun and being involved, I am doing my job.

How might these feelings influence your teaching of Physical Education?:

How might these feelings influence your teaching of Physical Education? More involved in teaching the children Main focus on involving all children Making all activities fun, even theory side (PDH)
