HOW TO OBTAIN CHRP DESIGNATION: HOW TO OBTAIN CHRP DESIGNATION PRESENT & FUTURE: National Route
9 Mandatory Courses
Human Resources Management ,Organizational Behaviour, Finance
& Accounting, Occupational Health & Safety, Training and
Development, Employee & Labour Relations, Staffing (Recruitment
& Selection), Human Resources Planning, Compensation
+ National Knowledge Exam
+ Professional Practice Assessment Exam
HRPAO Degree Requirement: HRPAO Degree Requirement
Effective January 1, 2011 a degree will be required for HRPAO members to obtain their CHRP designation
To be exempt from this requirement, must be a member of HRPAO by December 31, 2007 and then complete courses by Dec 31, 2010.
This is now the national standard as adopted by CCHRA and its member organizations

Confirms professional credibility/competency within the rapidly evolving HR field
Enhances the accountability/validity of the profession as a whole “raises the bar”
Demonstrates continuous development as a professional
Other provinces have had recertification for years – Ontario and Quebec are the last
For HRPAO members, recertification will begin being assessed in 2006.

Required to gain 100 points within a three year time frame to maintain your CHRP designation
Designed to showcase your professional learning activities over a three year period
Onus is on CHRP member to justify log of activities
3% of logs will be audited by panel of peers
