Why I chose this project::

Why I chose this project: They have doing this project for awhile now at different campuses. It sounded fun because the kids get to dress up for Halloween. They get to play games, get their face paint, get candy, and have a good time. I was able to experience working with students with all sorts of disabilities. It was my first time going to an UCP school and see what programs they offer and the school environment.

what was expected::

what was expected: There was about 20-30 volunteers that we either were exceptional education or elementary education majors. We had to get food, candy and water donations. Many of us ask neighbors, co-workers and family for donations. Many of us were able to bring a lot of candy and water. I brought in two cases of water and big bag of candy. We went to the school the day before the event to get everything set and ready. We figured out what games we were going to do.

Civic Engagement:

Civic Engagement As a group, we really enjoying spending time doing all of the activities and celebrating Halloween with all kids. I could see the excitement in their eyes when they got candy, got to play a game, or get a prize. I think as a group, we really enjoy helping others without excepting anything return just a smile on their face. Many were excited about doing more volunteer and service projects in the community.

Perceptions of differences:

Perceptions of differences When I first signed up to do this service-learning project was kind of excited because I knew some people who did this last year and they said they had a lot of fun doing the project. The project sounded like it was really fun but at the same time it was a lot of work but rewarding at the same time. I had work with a kid with cerebral palsy, autism and ADHD. I was able to experience working with students with other physical or mental disabilities that I have not experience. I was really excited to see all of the kids costumes and some of them really had some nice and cute costumes.

Day of the event::

Day of the event: We came in early to decorate the school and figure out who was doing what. We got all of the games set and what prizes the kids would get at each station. We sorted the candy because there were a few of the kids that had nut allergies or other forms.

Bowling:

Bowling Bowling with 2-liter coke bottles they would roll ball and knock over all the pins then they got bat clappers and get some candy too.
