Example: After 6 ½ years in L.A. County, by grace of God and upper management, you are a grade III step 2 you make $101,712. In San Bernardino you WILL be making $103,292. FYI the median home price in San Bernardino County is 40% lower than in Los Angeles County! ($265,000 compared to $440,000)

Routine Mass Transfers Are Unnecessary :

Routine Mass Transfers Are Unnecessary Most D.A.’s offices do not have policies restricting transfers. HOWEVER, Los Angeles is unique in its size and/or number of locations AND, to some extent, its traffic conditions. Interestingly, the MOU’s of some other L.A. County workers DO address transfers.

Routine Mass Transfers Are Unnecessary:

Routine Mass Transfers Are Unnecessary Los Angeles County Probation Officers: Requests for voluntary transfers are responded to in writing and reasons must be given if denied. When filling vacancies management SHALL review transfer requests and consider seniority and travel distance in their decision making process. Los Angeles County Doctors and Dentists: Requires management to consider seniority, experience, geographic location, etc. in case of involuntary transfer.

Routine Mass Transfers Are Unnecessary:

Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office: “In the event that the Office of the City Attorney determines that it needs to transfer involuntarily an attorney. . . The office agrees to discuss the reasons for the proposed transfer and to engage in a good faith exploration of any reasonable alternatives” They also got a letter of intent between the City Attorney and the union to explore the feasibility of telecommuting and other remote access options.
