Premium member Presentation Transcript Belvidere Boone CountyFood Pantry : Belvidere Boone CountyFood Pantry “The miracle on 5th street!” Our Mission Statement : Our Mission Statement The Belvidere/Boone County Food Pantry is a non-profit organization that provides food, non-food products, clothing and other household products to the needy. We will do this without discrimination of race, social class, age, or cultural differences. We desire to be a bridge to help transition those facing hard times until they become self-sufficient. Our goal is to give people hope and to make a difference in their lives. We strive to improve the diets of school and preschool children, the elderly, needy people in charitable institutions, and other individuals in need of food assistance. Services we proudly offer : Services we proudly offer We have set up a free program (provided free of charge from North Boone Broadband) for people who need to seek employment through the Internet. We also assist them with their résumés. We are working with the University of Illinois Extension office to assist people with information such as how to prepare well balanced meals with the food we provide to them. There are nearly 1800 people who come to our facility each month to receive food, non-food, furniture, etc More services we proudly offer : More services we proudly offer We are involved with the “Coats for Kids” program for Boone County residents. We provide coats for children of all ages and for adult men and women. We are working with the Belvidere VFW in sending products to our military men and women stationed in Iraq. More services we proudly offer : More services we proudly offer Our agency works with the schools in Boone County giving the students a place to go to volunteer their time and talents in helping the less fortunate. We also work with the Probation Department in Boone County who send school aged children to our pantry to do their community service hours. We are able to mentor these young adults in many areas of their lives. They are able to see that even though they may be going through some rough times, there are people in their community that are a lot worse off than they are.
