A is for the Arbuckle Mountains The Arbuckle Mountains are one of Oklahoma’s four mountain ranges.

B is for Bison: 

B is for Bison The Bison is the state animal of Oklahoma. It is a massive animal that weighs from 800 to 2,000 pounds and stands six feet high at the shoulders. A large head, high hump on the back and shaggy hair are features of this animal.

C is for Cowboys America’s working cowboy began his history on the Texas plains. After the Civil War ranchers found that they had a plentiful supply of beef with no place to sell it.

D is for Deerskin: 

D is for Deerskin An Osage warriors buckskin shield is decorated with pendant eagle feathers in the basic design.

E is for Emblem: 

E is for Emblem Mistletoe is Oklahoma’s state floral emblem. Mistletoe grows on trees throughout the state and is particularly bountiful in the southern regions of Oklahoma.

F is for Fish The white bass, also know as sand bass, is Oklahoma’s state fish. It is dark blue-green on top, with silvery sides, a white belly and black horizontal stripes running along the length of its’ body.

G is for Gas: 

G is for Gas Oklahoma is the third largest natural gas producer in the nation and the fifth largest producer of oil.

H is for Heritage: 

H is for Heritage America is steeped in the traditions of the West and the American Indian. No other state boasts a richer heritage of both traditions than Oklahoma.

I is for Instrument: 

I is for Instrument Oklahoma’s state musical instrument is the fiddle.

J is for Judge Parker : 

J is for Judge Parker Judge Parker was called the “hanging judge” because he hung so many outlaws in Oklahoma.

K is for Kiamichi: 

K is for Kiamichi The Kiamichi Mountains are one of the four mountain ranges in Oklahoma.

L is for “Labor Omnia Vincit”: 

L is for “Labor Omnia Vincit” This is Oklahoma’s State Motto. It means “Labor Conquers All Things.”

M is for Mineral: 

M is for Mineral Oklahoma is rich in mineral resources. There is natural gas, coal, petroleum and different types of clays.

N is for Nickname: 

N is for Nickname Oklahoma’s nickname is the “Sooner State.” It got that name because some people tried to run the land early.

O is for Outlaw: 

O is for Outlaw After cattlemen and settlers came to Oklahoma and Indian territories, Outlaws were attracted to this wild frontier country in the late 1800’s.

P is for Pawnee Bill: 

P is for Pawnee Bill Pawnee Bill and some of his Indian friends later joined Buffalo Bill’s wild west show. Wild West shows had both a rodeo and a circus.

Q is for Quapaw: 

Q is for Quapaw The Quapaw tribe settled near the Red river on land received from the Caddos, a tribe from Texas.

R is for Redbud: 

R is for Redbud The Redbud tree grows in the valleys and ravines of Oklahoma . In early spring, its’ reddish-pink blossoms brighten the landscapes throughout the state.

S is for Sooner: 

S is for Sooner In 1889, settlers waited for the signal to leave the starting line, they raced to claim their land with no boundary or fence. Some were sooner than others and they’ve been Sooners ever since.

T is for Trail of Tears: 

T is for Trail of Tears The Cherokee Indians were forced to travel across the Missouri and Arkansas wilderness during the harsh winter months to reach Oklahoma Territory.

U is for Unique Early Settlers: 

U is for Unique Early Settlers Mound Builders were the early settlers of Oklahoma. In later years, the state of Oklahoma became the setting for vast horse and cattle ranches, rodeos and working cowboys.

V is for Valley: 

V is for Valley Coal can be found in northeastern Oklahoma as well as the Arkansas valley.

W is for Weather: 

W is for Weather Most of Oklahoma has a warm, dry climate. Spring is the time for tornadoes in Oklahoma.

X is for “Marking the Spot”: 

X is for “Marking the Spot” Put an “X” on Oklahoma the best state in the nation. X

Y is for Young State: 

Y is for Young State Oklahoma is the 46th state.

Z is for Zoo: 

Z is for Zoo You could fill a Zoo with all the animals found in Oklahoma.

O is for Oklahoma:
