Cloud computing :

Cloud computing

Overview :

Overview Evolution of cloud computing Types of cloud computing Layers in cloud computing How cloud computing works? Benefits Issues

Slide 9:

Difficult to deploy applications in new environment

DEPLOYMENT MODEL OF CLOUD COMPUTING :

DEPLOYMENT MODEL OF CLOUD COMPUTING

TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING :

TYPES OF CLOUD COMPUTING ❶ PRIVATE CLOUD ❷ PUBLIC CLOUD ❸ COMMUNITY CLOUD ❹ HYBRID CLOUD

PRIVATE CLOUD:- :

PRIVATE CLOUD:- a.k.a. internal cloud/ corporate cloud provides hosted services to a limited number of people offerings capitalize on data security, corporate governance, and reliability concerns

PUBLIC CLOUD :- :

PUBLIC CLOUD :- a.k.a. external cloud Service provider makes resources dynamically available Benefits:- - easy and inexpensive set-up - scalability - no wasted resources Examples :- Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, IBM's Blue Cloud, Sun Cloud, Google AppEngine

COMMUNITY CLOUD:- :

COMMUNITY CLOUD:- Organization having similar requirement Privacy , security and/or policy compliance Examples:- Google’s "Gov Cloud"

HYBRID CLOUD:- :

HYBRID CLOUD:- Multiple internal and external providers Composition of two or more clouds Applications: - Archiving and backup functions - Deploying a web application in the cloud

Layers in cloud computing :

Layers in cloud computing

The five layers :

The five layers

Client :

Client Hardware & Software Essentially useless without the cloud E.g.: Computers\phones

Application (SaaS) :

Application (SaaS) Run over internet No need to install\maintain Complete, customizable applications E.g.: Google Apps, Salesforce CRM

Platform (PaaS) :

Platform (PaaS) Deployment without complexity Eliminate most management tasks Pre-built components E.g.: Google App Engine, Microsoft Azure

Infrastructure (IaaS) :

Infrastructure (IaaS) Network of servers Virtualized Billed on utility basis E.g.: Nimbus, AWS

Server :

Server Hardware\Software Specialized for cloud (e.g. better OS, multi-core processors) Network of virtualized computers

HOW CLOUD COMPUTING WORKS? :

HOW CLOUD COMPUTING WORKS?

Slide 33:

Can logically be divided into 2 sections -Front end -Back end Front end Network Back end

Slide 34:

Front end includes - -the client's computers -application required to access the cloud computing e.g. Internet Explorer, FireFox etc. Back end includes - -computer networks, servers and any data storage systems -practically, any computer program you can imagine from data processing to video games -Control node…also called as Central server

Slide 35:

Webmail – A Simple Cloud Computing Example

Slide 36:

Different Cloud Computing Variations

Benefits of cloud computing: :

Benefits of cloud computing:

Slide 39:

Agility Cost

Slide 40:

Multi-tenancy Centralization Peak-load capacity Utilization and efficiency Device and Location Independent Maintenance

Issues in Cloud Computing :

Issues in Cloud Computing

Slide 42:

Privacy --relatively immune to traditional privacy breaches --no control mechanism

Open Source --provide foundation :

Open Source --provide foundation Ownership --rights related issue

Security :

Security --vulnerability of remote data

Availability & Performance :

Availability & Performance --able to control backups --crash of service

Sustainability & Reliability :

Sustainability & Reliability --is data storage system trustworthy? --is cloud service provider financially stable?

Conclusion :

Conclusion “Go Cloud”
