Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Independant Administrative Institution since October 2003 Originally Founded in 1932, through an endowment of Emperor Showa Research funding agency for Universities and Research institutes Covering all Academic Research Fields (natural and applied sciences, social sciences and the humanities) Supported by annual subsidies from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Sciences and Technology (MEXT) Budget for the 2005 fiscal year : 1,46 Billion €

Mission of Strasbourg Office To promote scientific exchanges between French and Japanese Scientists To provide information and Assistance for exchanges between France and Japan To be an efficient partner with CNRS, INSERM, INRA, other Research Institutions, in addition to French Universities, «Grandes Ecoles», as well as with «Maison Universitaire France-Japon»  To organize Scientific Meetings such as JSPS Fora, Workshops and Academic Seminars in France
