Correct Web Search Strategies :

Correct Web Search Strategies This is a beginner's guide on how to properly research material on a web search engine. It covers things you need to know in order to become a smart searcher such as: (1) understanding what you are looking for, (2) what signs mean in web searching, and (3) shortcuts to better help you find your exact search. The web search engine that I will use to demonstrate my instructions will be www.yahoo.com (which is a free web search engine).

All you will need is: :

All you will need is: Access to a computer with internet Basic knowledge on mouse and keyboard operation Knowledge on computer basics such as windows, menus, and toolbars

Slide 3:

You will then need to click on the Internet Explorer icon to access the internet

Slide 4:

After gaining access to the internet, you will then need to type www.yahoo.com in the toolbar.

Slide 5:

Now that www.yahoo.com has shown up, the next step is to type in your search in the yahoo toolbar.

Slide 6:

For example, if you type in King Crab, you are going to get a lot of different links with things having to do with the words King Crab. However, if you want to narrow your search down to specifically find the actual King Crab, all you have to do is put quotations around the words such as “King Crab” and links will show nothing but facts about King Crabs.

Slide 7:

So to say, another shortcut is to add a + symbol when looking for specific information. For example, if you want to know about King Fish, then you just type in the words King Fish. However, when you type in the words King Fish different links will show information based on the search such as King Fish Restaurants or even King Fish Inn. If you want to search information based on King Fishing, then type in King Fish + Fishing and nothing else will show except for King Fish Fishing. King Fish +Fishing

Slide 8:

The same goes for the – symbol. For example, if you are looking for a printer and not the cartridge, then you would type printer – cartridge. This excludes anything having to do with cartridges, and concentrates on printers only. Printer -Cartridge

Note: :

Note: Select the most descriptive words. Use at least two keywords. Place the important words or phrases first. Avoid redundant terms and complicated query structures. Remember work smarter, not harder. The secret to constructing a professional query is to type words you expect to find in the matches.

Conclusion :

Conclusion Now that you have personally demonstrated these instructions and have a better understanding on how to properly research material, you feel as if a heavy weight as been lifted off your shoulders. The more you continue to research material in this manner, the more familiarized you will get with other shortcuts. Now you have narrowed down your long exhausting researching days, and have become a smart searcher.
