Purpose To prepare you as a chapter leader to run a successful chapter by helping you: Learn the international KDP chapter requirements Understand your responsibilities as a chapter officer Know the basics of chapter operations

International KDP Chapter Requirements Four minimum requirements for all chapters: Initiation ceremony Chapter reports Chapter programming Conference attendance

Chapter Leader Positions : 

Chapter Leader Positions All officers must be current on their membership dues in order to serve An officer may serve in more than one position All officer guidebooks can be found online

Vice PresidentAKA: Program Chair Chair the Program Committee and conduct programs designed to maximize member involvement and retention Conduct all public and community relations Fill out the Chapter Planning Report (Oct 1) Preside in absence of the President Assume the duties of the president should a vacancy occur in that office

Program Committee (required committee for Standard/Advanced Model) : 

Program Committee (required committee for Standard/Advanced Model) Formed by volunteers from the general membership Survey members to learn areas of interest and need for program ideas Compile data from the survey to plan annual calendar of programs Coordinate chapter programs to provide different opportunities and experiences for chapter membership Professional/career development events Service projects Networking/social activities Fundraisers Monitor progress; follow up with subcommittee chairs periodically

Chapter Program Committee Tree There is room for everyone in the chapter to participate at any level! The more members you actively involve the higher your member renewal rate will be.

Chairing the Program Committee : 

Chairing the Program Committee What are your duties: Overseeing all subcommittee chairs They report to you what is going on with their project(s) and how plans are progressing They will come to you if help is needed or desired Addressing all chapter goals that relate to chapter programming and making a ‘game plan’ to meet those goals Intervening when a subcommittee chair is not performing their duties responsibly Communicating with other committees and the general chapter membership about programming plans and upcoming events

Chapter Model Program Requirements : 

Chapter Model Program Requirements Collaboration with other campus organizations, other KDP chapters, or community organizations is recommended for Standard Models and required for Advanced Models.

Public and Community relations : 

Public and Community relations Local community organizations like: Public Library Local homeless shelter Community Hospital County School System/District Other campus organizations like: Student Government (SGA) Educational clubs/organizations (PDK, NEA, etc.) Other Honor Societies (Golden Key, Mortarboard, etc.) Reaching out to the community inside and outside the campus borders. Building Connections!
