The Commonwealth Games is a multinational, multi-sport event. Held every four years, it involves the elite athletes of the Commonwealth of Nations. There are currently 54 members of the Commonwealth of Nations, and 71 teams participate in the Games. India a country known for its varied culture stood up to the world and got the golden opportunity to host this historic event- “COMMONWEALTH 2010” The opening ceremony of the 2010 Common Wealth Games was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main stadium of the event, in New Delhi, India. It began at 7:00 PM on 3 October 2010 ending at 10:00 PM (IST) displaying India's varied culture in a plethora of cultural showcases. : India a country known for its varied culture stood up to the world and got the golden opportunity to host this historic event- “COMMONWEALTH 2010” The opening ceremony of the 2010 Common Wealth Games was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main stadium of the event, in New Delhi, India. It was the official anthem for the 2010 Common Wealth Games, which was held in Delhi, India between October 3 October and 14 October 2010. OUR LOGO: COME,OUT AND PLAY 71 COUNTRIES PARTICIPATED THIS HISTORIC EVENT AND ENTERED THE GROUND OF SPORTS WITH WONDERFUL EXCITEMENT LEVELS TO MAKE THEIR UNEXPECTED HISTORIC RECORDS ….. : 71 COUNTRIES PARTICIPATED THIS HISTORIC EVENT AND ENTERED THE GROUND OF SPORTS WITH WONDERFUL EXCITEMENT LEVELS TO MAKE THEIR UNEXPECTED HISTORIC RECORDS ….. NO.OF .EVENTS…… : NO.OF .EVENTS…… There were events in 21 disciplines across 17 sports for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Events at Commonwealth games 2010, Delhi In total a total of 17 sports events will take place in Commonwealth games 2010 at Delhi. The detail of Sports in Common Wealth Games 2010.are Aquatics, archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, cycling, Gymnastics, Hockey, Lawn balls, net balls, Rugby, shooting, squash, shooting, Table tennis, tennis, weight lifting and wrestling. There will be various categories in each event and the maximum category is in Gymnastics which is about 14.Each game will be for both men and women separately with an exception of net balls which will be for women only. Slide 14: Excellence was shown in every sports Slide 15: Approximately 6081 athletes from 71 nations are participated in 17 sports. Australia again topped the medal tally for the sixth consecutive time with 74 golds and 177 medals overall. Host nation India finished second in the table for the very first time in Common Wealth Games history with a tally of 38 golds and 101 medals overall. Slide 17: India ranked second in medal list , a matter of pride for each one of us Slide 18: We feel proud for them Slide 19: Their winning is matter of proud for each one of us . Slide 20: Now, it was time to say bye-bye to common wealth games 2010 Slide 21: The athletes of the 71 participating nations entered and paraded the stadium together as one big contingent, signifying the bonds and friendships formed during the Games.[ The official mascot of the Games, Shera, was given a musical farewell as he went around the stadium in a vehicle accompanied by Shaan. OUR GRAND CLOSING CEREMONY The closing ceremony of the 2010 Common wealth games was held at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, the main stadium of the event, in New Delhi, India. It began at 7:00 PM on 14 October 2010 and ended at 9:20 PM (IST). The ceremony included display of martial arts from a number of states of India followed by musical performances and showcasing the culture of Scotland, which will host the2014 common wealth games. Slide 23: Medals Tally COUNTRY Total Being Indians we should feel proud on India’s unexpected performance in CWG-games 2010.So,we should come forward and encourage our upcoming players.
