S. § 70-26-101) …that it is needful to permit such employees to select and tailor the benefits they receive in a manner calculated to best meet the particular needs of themselves and their families, and to furnish school district employees with choices among various employee benefits or cash compensation.FLEXIBLE BENEFIT AUDIT: FLEXIBLE BENEFIT AUDIT EMPLOYEES 1. Certified Personnel means a certified person employed on a full time basis to serve as a teacher, principal, supervisor, administrator, counselor, librarian, or certified or registered nurse, but shall not mean a superintendent of a school district. ($364.24) Must work at least 4 hours a day Or a 20 hour week (4/7th Contract) Work 1 hour a day you can draw cash flex $69.71 FLEXIBLE BENEFIT AUDIT: FLEXIBLE BENEFIT AUDIT 2. Support Personnel means full-time employees of a school district who perform services not performed by certified personnel, and shall include cooks, janitors, maintenance personnel, bus drivers, noncertified or nonregistered nurses, noncertified librarians, and clerical employees of a school district but shall not include adult education instructors or adult coordinators employed by area technology center school districts. ($364.24) Must be a 6 hour a day employee Must be on a 172 day contract Or you can draw the cash flex $189.71FLEXIBLE BENEFIT AUDIT: FLEXIBLE BENEFIT AUDIT 3. Retired Personnel Can work 4/7th and draw district paid health insurance and retirement benefits. Can draw $15,000 salary first calendar year and flex benefit health is on top of that figure. After 36 months, can make $30,000 plus flex benefit health insurance. If a school pays a retiree $69.71 flex cash, the payment does not count toward the retiree’s earnings limit for retirement purposes.FLEXIBLE BENEFIT AUDIT: FLEXIBLE BENEFIT AUDIT TIMELINE October Count Provides funding for positions currently filled, positions that have been filled during the current fiscal year, and then vacated (in which the district is actively seeking to fill), and “New” positions created and filled by October 1 (or pending approval on the District’s October Board Meeting).FLEXIBLE BENEFIT AUDIT: FLEXIBLE BENEFIT AUDIT January Count Purpose is to identify eligible employees who have changed from taking Taxable Compensation to Major Medical Insurance or visa versa.
