E2B Lab® Profile E2B Lab® is an University Business Incubator; A pilot project supported by the Ministry of Industry; It was created in March 2004 by and within the ‘University of Rome Tor Vergata’, and specifically by the School of economics - Centre for International Studies on Economic Growth (CEIS); E2B Lab is the first university Incubator that has been set up in Lazio

The University Role in Incubating Process: 

The University Role in Incubating Process University‘ business’ incubator as a ‘Pro-active’ actor. Try to facilitate the Enterprise creation as a tangible ‘gateway’ providing Managerial competence – Knowledge transfer and large portfolio of experiences Capabilities to work with Enterprise and research Labs Work experience for students in order to reduce the gap between the studying and Time to work ( stages - degree thesis – dissertation – Phd Thesis ect) Education programs able to develop managerial capabilities and specific Training as needed. Networking with regional actors (institutional and private) as one of the main priorities (the added value of synergies!)

Mission: 

Mission Support innovative start ups companies presenting high IT and/or Telecom component, localized in Lazio region. Strengthen the relationship between University, Firms and Institutions within the Latium region providing high level training on business.

Structure 1/3: 

Structure 1/3 Scientific Committee, (chairman – Prof. Luigi Paganetto - Dean of the school of Economics) Six Full Professor of the University of Rome Tor Vergata; Advisory Committee, (coordinated by Prof. Angelo Airaghi) made up of 11 experts/top level managers belonging to the biggest corporations located in the area – they are particularly involved in the evaluation process. E2B Lab Directors (coordinated by Prof. Maurizio Decastri - Director, and Prof. Susanna Di Martino -Executive Director).

Structure 2/3: 

Structure 2/3 Steering Committee, (Chairman Prof. Giovanni Tria, Director of the Centre for International Studies on Economic Growth (CEIS)) It is made up of: National and local institutions (Ministry of Productive Activities) Government agency (Ice) Regional Agencies (Sviluppo Lazio, Filas) Entrepreneurs association both at the national and local level (Confindustria, Federlazio, Unione industriali and young entrepreneur association) Sectorial Entrepreneurs Associations focusing on Innovation (Federcomin, Fita, Anie) Financial institutions (Bank Fondations) Others (Rome Expo Center, CESOS)

Specific Goals: 

Specific Goals Support innovative start ups companies presenting high IT and/or Telecom component, localized in Lazio region;ie Scouting of potential ideas within the Latium region Evaluate the best ideas, supporting them with appropriate assistance for them to traduce idea into a Business Plan Select the 10 best Business Ideas and support them for the first 2 years (esp. advice in the projecting and the defining of the business plan; support in finding financial support; hosting in the University’s Business Lab). 10.000 Eu prize to the first 8 BIs. 1st call expired on June 30th, 2005 2nd call expired June 15th 2006

Preliminary results : 

Preliminary results 10.000 people reached by our call in 2005. - University, Reasearch centers, Professors, Researchers,Phd Students, Ba and Master students; Small and Medium Enterprise and new start ups ( last 6 month); Aspiring entrepreneur registed in data base provide by local istitutions as Univesity Job placement Desk, Provincia di Roma, Biclazio, Cambre of commerce 3000 visitors of the E2B Lab® Web site 1000 members of the virtual E2B Lab® Community 30 info points within the Latium Region
