Slide 3: Why? It is very important to be militarily self-reliant as seen from the situation of the Japanese Occupation. It will give a sense of belonging to citizens and foreign companies will feel safe to invest. Slide 4: How is Deterrence practised? Slide 5: Citizen Armed Force 1967 All able-bodied men will serve National Service Singaporean men will learn to defend and bond to ensure a sense of loyalty and belonging to Singapore They will have to re-service after the full-time National Service Slide 6: SAF Slide 7: Singapore's Defence industry Advantages Develop an effective fighting force with latest technology and equipment.
