National Health Information Studies These working groups conducted the assessment of the current situation, projects, initiatives, and policy studies in their respective fields. NHIS Action Plan has been published in January 2004.

e-Health Activities in the context of e-Transformation Turkey Project: 

e-Health Activities in the context of e-Transformation Turkey Project e-Health Working Group established in the context of e-Transformation Turkey Project under the authority of SPO. 15 actions determined on e-Health as basic building blocks of HIS. Those actions mostly completed and evaluated by SPO.

ITU Support : 

ITU Support Through the Telecommunications Authority of Turkey, The Ministry of Health, Turkey, requested ITU to provide assistance in the implementation of Turkey’s e-Health Project and support in their Health Transformation Project.

ITU Support : 

ITU Support Turkey’s e-Health Strategy & Towards Implementation Document published with support of the ITU. The Minister of Health has approved their recommendation of the ITU.

Explanation of Tasks -1: 

Explanation of Tasks -1 The conversion of the existing LAN-WAN into a true health network platform to be known as Sağlık-Net, providing linkages, services and data repositories (e.g. minimum data sets of Electronic Health Records) to the all those authorized in the health sector. Saglik-Net is operational now.

Explanation of Tasks -2: 

Explanation of Tasks -2 Establishment of a Health Data Operation Centre for Electronic Health Records. Contract awarded. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2007.

Explanation of Tasks -3: 

Explanation of Tasks -3 A National Health Data Dictionary as one example of number of standards that have been either adapted or developed by the Ministry to ensure nation-wide compatibility of health information in Turkey. First Draft released. V 1.0 will be published by 4th quarter of 2007.

Explanation of Tasks -4: 

Explanation of Tasks -4 The adoption of the TUBİTAK (Technical and Scientific Research Council) solution for Digital Security in Turkey. A pilot study has been started under the umbrella of Information Society Strategy Action Plan. Health and Insurance sectors are determined for the first pilot implementation.
