How to develop ECCC?:

How to develop ECCC?

Some examples of developing Enjoyment:

Some examples of developing Enjoyment Use interesting diagrams (7 char.) and cartoons (ST) Use interesting information and facts (largest flower, history) Show daily relevant materials (food label) Use interesting newspaper cuttings & resources Ask interesting questions (Whys…?)

Some examples of developing Enjoyment (cont’d):

Some examples of developing Enjoyment (cont’d) Do interesting activities (plant press, skeleton) Use interesting test questions (capillary bed) Use puzzles Give interesting web sites (fast foods) Use Integrated learning (John and May’s experience) Use IT: CD Rom animations

Some examples of developing effective communication skills:

Some examples of developing effective communication skills Presentations (photos of beautiful organisms) Discussions (wrong concepts, concept map) Testing each other concepts (concept words) Debates (WWF’s Great Environmental Debate) Group work (Discuss 4Rs) Case discussions (HK Disneyland?)

Some examples to develop Commitment:

Some examples to develop Commitment Always think and ask questions E.g. how to conserve the environment or life forms during field studies Help to save endangered species Should they bring Koala home? Organ donation Visit to organizations Joining the WWF

Examples to develop Creativity:

Examples to develop Creativity Ask questions (How can we visualize insect vision?) Ask to design models (opposing muscles) Ask to design better/other models (circulation toy) Use textbook as a basis for innovative thinking (design kidney machines, 2D Vision)

The Trick: Always Think ECCC!:

The Trick: Always Think ECCC! Always Plan with ECCC What methods to arouse interest/enjoyment? What methods to promote discussions, interactions & communications? What methods to develop values, attitudes and responsibility? What methods to promote creativity? Always Think about ECCC during teaching Always use ECCC when setting assessments

Integrated Practice:

Integrated Practice Always think of how each item/method can be used in such a way to promote as many elements of ECCC as possible! E.g. Wooden Insect E.g. Writing an essay E.g. Using toys Others 
