Today, golf is one of the most viewed, read, and played sport Golf is used as a leisure activity, a stress reliever, and a way to travel to new destinations all over the world Theories….. : Theories….. Golf is perceived as a Male dominated sport because of: Women’s suffrage Anti-Feminism House wife stereotype Culture : Culture Golf became a part of women’s culture since the early 1900’s because of women like Helen Dettweiler, Patty Burge, and Babe Zaharias Culture Continued…… : Culture Continued…… In 1959, the LPGA was founded by 13 women who had a passion and love for the game of golf - Their MISSION: to “Empower and support girls and women through the development and humanitarian golf initiatives” Their VISION: “Leaders in improving the lives of girls and women through the game of golf” www.lpga.com Culture Continued….. : Culture Continued….. Golf is not only apart of women’s culture, it has also supported feminism by being a cross gender leisure activity for girls and women by providing a competitive and fun sport. LPGA.com Personal Learning : Personal Learning The passion, determination, and love that I developed for the game of golf came naturally Golf challenged me mentally and physically; I felt liberated, strong, and powerful I had control over my own game My experience showed me I can play golf even through I am a woman!
