The Benefits of Seeing an Optician

Slide 2:

The first and sometimes only thing that people associate with routine eye exams with an optician is getting a glasses or contacts prescription. There is so much more that happens in a yearly eye exam that you shouldn’t think of seeing your optician only when you want new glasses.   The optician tests your vision and prescribes glasses or contacts based on your results in the preliminary reading test. Everything that happens after that, things like checking the back of the eye with a light, are essential for catching any subtle eye diseases before they really spring on you and cause significant problems.

Slide 3:

Opticians also offer many more services in addition to the general eye exam, like   - treatment for macular degeneration or blepharitis - LASIK surgery - cataract testing - glaucoma testing - diabetic retinopathy and more.   Take cataract testing, for example. It affects more than 22 million people in the U.S., and it’s a very subtle disorder that can lead to blindness if left unchecked. An optician can deftly catch, treat or help prevent this syndrome from robbing you of your sight.

Slide 4:

If you’re interested in scheduling an appointment but aren’t sure whether you can afford it or not, most medical insurances provide for some sort of eye care.   For more information on seeing an optician in El Cajon, visit the website .
