DISTRICT OPERATIONS: 

DISTRICT OPERATIONS Attended Wyoming Board of Ag meetings to represent districts Conducted annual awards program Assisted host districts with 2004 Area Meetings/Convention 2004 Olin Sims, Jean Dickinson, Robert Brug represented Wyoming at Western Coalition meeting – Alaska Provide staff support to Coalition, prepared minutes, agendas, budget, contract with NACD, etc.

Track legislation, testify and represent districts during legislative session January 10 – March 3 Coordinated District law task force for development of district law legislation Presented district law legislation at Joint Corporations Committee interim meetings Casper & Cheyenne Met with County Commissioners Association, Wyoming Association of Municipalities, Board of Ag, Petroleum Association, Mining Association on district law revisions

CONSERVATION FORESTRY: 

CONSERVATION FORESTRY Assisted with implementation of the $15,000 pass through funding to districts for seedling tree advertisement/training materials Compiled and completed Forest Stewardship reporting Inventoried and located WACD tree planters

Developed and distributed seedling tree order form Coordinated billing for seedling trees – TOTAL SEEDLINGS STATEWIDE 193,780 Coordinated, with State Forestry, production and distribution of tree protectors – 6,080 Provided information on survival products such as weed barrier and hydrosource Posted conservation forestry information on web site Issued two template press releases to district to promote seedling sales

EDUCATION: 

EDUCATION Kaycee Ag Trade Show Coalition for Wyoming Water Phase I campaign Co-sponsored state fair booth with Converse County CD Wrote editorial for Livestock Roundup on importance of district mill levies

Began Coalition for Wyoming Water education campaign Assisted in raising approximately $30,000 to implement education campaign Developed web site for campaign Participate in Stock Growers Environmental Stewardship Tour – Congratulations to the Thaler family Updated web site

ENVIRONMENT: 

ENVIRONMENT Continued to request federal funding earmark for Wyoming NRCS for accelerated soil survey – thanks to delegation continued $300,000 funding for NRCS and received new appropriation of $160,000 for BLM survey in Uinta County Provide information on soil survey to State Lands Dept. director With NRCS assistance, provide information on progress made with NRCS soil survey funds

PRIVATE, STATE & FEDERAL LANDS : 

PRIVATE, STATE & FEDERAL LANDS Met with Forest Supervisors to explain district watershed planning efforts Met with Governor’s planning office on district involvement in federal land planning Coordinated with other organizations and participated in filing amicus in Roadless litigation appeal Attended meeting of local governments in south west Wyoming with BLM Deputy Director

WATER RESOURCES: 

WATER RESOURCES Assisted with legislative effort to continue $675,000 in water quality funding for districts Participated in quarterly meetings with DEQ

WILDLIFE Continued involvement Wyoming Wolf Coalition in filing appeal to ruling on suit against Fish & Wildlife over wolf plan rejection Participated in group that worked on Wildlife Trust Fund issue Participated in discussions and testified at Commission hearing on Comprehensive Wildlife Conservation Strategy Submitted comments on proposed Sage Grouse listing Assisted Olin Sims with testimony for congressional field hearing on Endangered Species Act
