IFDP Objectives: 

IFDP Objectives To enhance the understanding of program participants of promising practices in international education, research, and outreach To enhance the capacity of departments and colleges to internationalize programs To create a cohort of faculty leaders/activists/advocates to advance the University’s International Strategic Plan

Program Overview: 

Program Overview Each dean selects two participants Group meetings in winter/spring Internationalizing the academy VT’s International Strategic Plan Identification of European Collaborators A ten-day trip to Riva San Vitale, Switzerland, in May Group field visits Individual projects Faculty implementation and program assessment

Expected Outcomes: 

Expected Outcomes Research collaboration / proposals Study abroad programs Organization of conferences/workshops with international collaborators

Group Field Visits: 

Group Field Visits University of Lugano, Switzerland Politecnico di Milano, Italy Cultural tours Riva, Lugano, and Milan Day trip to Bellinzona, Switzerland

Individual Projects : 

Individual Projects MOU’s with the University of Trier and the University of Karlshrue 2 students from Trier completed MS degree in Math at VT 2 students from Karlshrue began graduate studies in Math at VT in Fall 2006 MOU with two German companies (Diff Pack and Springer) and ICUBED 2 students from VT interned in Germany in Summer 2006 VT and three companies are pursuing study abroad/intern programs in South Africa Student and Faculty Exchanges in Mathematics John Rossi
