March 27, 2010 : 

March 27, 2010 We went to a scary place called “auction” and little did we know our lives would change for ever. A special group of people called “Rescue” were ready for us. The “Rescue” people wanted to save us. On the eve of the auction, Dandies in Distress had raised over $16,000.00 in private donations. The DDTCA Board of Directors voted unanimously to give $300.00 per dog, for a total of $ 3,900.00. Betty Olsen, Jacolyn Dadles, Bronwell Bond & Gyorke Alger, through the DDTRL, donated $6,000.00. Fingers were crossed that there was enough money. Everyone wanted to save us. NO DOG WOULD BE LEFT BEHIND

A name defines you, and thanks to Gail and the kids for naming-Lucy, Marci, Linus and Peppermint Patty. Some of us spent about 7 long years in this puppy mill. Some of us were born in captivity.

The Story of Lucy : 

The Story of Lucy I was pulled by my seller at the last minute because I was sick and would not survive. My seller, later approached the rescue rep and a deal was made for me. Thank you to everyone for loving and saving me. Because of this rescue, I knew food, comfort, warmth and was loved to the last minute. A special thank you to the family that never gave up on me and did not leave me behind. 1/8/2010 - 4/28/2010

My first hugs, steps and everything else I loved Banquet Dinners, being held, and hand fed. Like a true dandie, I enjoyed barking and chasing cats

Now for the good stuff We have homes of our own Couches, beds and lots of food We have humans to own Everyday is an adventure for us We are dandies- strong willed, opinionated and full of life. Long live our spirits.

Peppermint Patty My daughter said, "Don't get a puppy, puppies need so much care          And the dog you have, Lucy, would think it unfair          If suddenly into her very own house          Came a noisy, lively, ball of fur           And decided to sleep in her chair.          This new little dog was an odd one for sure.           There was nothing that she wouldn't eat.          The plants in the garden,           The grass in the lawn,          The cushion from the porch chair seat.          Twice a day she gobbles her food.          I guess she thinks that its good.          But the things she likes best          (When she tears them to bits),          Are magazines, catalogues and my half read book.
