Jay Paul Deratany Jay Paul Deratany lives and works as a legal professional in Chicago. He’s also a playwright producer and actor whose hit play Haram Iran was nominated for a GLAAD Theater Award.

Jay Paul Deratany “So what inspired me to write Haram Iran is that I came across the story of two boys aged fifteen sixteen in Iran that were executed for being gay” Jay Paul Deratany explained during an interview. “And as a human rights activist and individual who has fought for children’s rights for many years I was horrified by this story. And I’m horrified by the continual abuse to LBGT individuals throughout the world and I want to bring greater awareness to that. And I hope you’ll become aware of it too once you see this play.”
