To make WYD08 a genuinely WORLD youth day a time was chosen when young people in Australia and from the Northern hemisphere were both on a break from school, college and university Issues: Why July?

Issues: Weather Very mild, sunny and dry in Sydney in July 2005 Temperatures: Average maximum (daytime) temperatures were particularly mild averaging 19°C [66°F]… Temperat-ures exceeded 19°C on 16 days… Average minimum (over-night) temperatures were 9.3°C [49°F]… Rainfall:  Persistent sunny days...  Sydney's total rainfall of 63mm [2.4 inches] on 7 rain days was well below the historic July average of 98mm. The second half of the month was rainless and virtually cloudless…
