BACKGROUND In 1997, investigation on on-farm tilapia feeding strategy was the main focus of Workplan 9.
Actual on-farm trials started in 1999.
Initially, this was a collaborative work with the University of Hawaii at Manoa with Dr. Chris L. Brown as the US PI.
In 2000, CLB moved to FIU and the project leadership from the US side remained to him.

Outreach Attendance of twelve undergraduate students to the Third National Tilapia Congress in San Fernango City, Pampanga was considered by the students as a lasting experience for them that widens their knowledge about the tilapia industry and put them as an advantage over the rest in establishing future employment opportunities
