(The grandma that lives in Miami) How did the ladybug get its name? A. In Europe, during the Middle Ages, insects were destroying the crops, so the Catholic farmers prayed to the Virgin Mary for help. Soon the Ladybugs came, ate the plant-destroying pests and saved the crops! The farmers began calling the ladybugs "The Beetles of Our Lady", and they eventually became known as "Lady Beetles"! The red wings represented the Virgin's cloak and the black spots represented her joys and sorrows. They didn't differentiate between males and females. Slide2: Look there’s you. This is our living room. This is what you see when you first walk in. This is where we host many events. We are growing, so its way too crammed, but very cozy. Slide3: So here is my fish tank, you see a better picture in a second. But those are my beautiful sunset pictures! I first hated Napoleon, but you have to admit you wish you could dance like him.Slide4: You cannot really see the fish, but there are like 9 small black baby mollies and than 5 mix color mollies. Yeah they entertain me. I once learned that if you can take care of a plant and pets, you are ready for marriage, so I am just getting myself ready. ;)Slide5: Dining Room, well not really its only our table. Those are my herbs!Slide6: Since I took the previous picture, I bought basil. So now I have mint, oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary, and sage. Yeah it’s a garden on the table. When its not cold anymore I will put them by the window. Slide7: This where you would sit if you ever came and had meals with me Hi Jesus!Slide8: This is the kitchen. I mean seriously how small is this kitchen. How is a chef like myself supposed to cook in this thing? I try my best and I constantly have to be cleaning since it is so small. (Yes there are some dishes in the sink, I was being lazy, sorry). Slide9: I look up when I am in the bathroom and I see Mary. I just love that girl. Yes, I own something with flowersSlide10: Bathroom Maria’s Room My roomSlide11: Guitar I still never play Giant Rosary (Cool huh?) MPD Box that I rarely open. Don’t tell anyone.Slide12: Baseball!! Mary Wall! (Look at all those images.)Slide13: I had to give you a better look. I mean isn’t our Mother so beautiful!Slide14: Rachel Ray Magazines! This is my favorite recipe thus far: Pressed Cuban Burgers From Every Day with Rachael Ray -March 2007 SIX SERVINGS Prep Time: 5 min Cook Time: 15 min 1/2 cup mayonnaise Juice of 1 lime 1 tablespoon ground cumin 2 pounds ground pork 2 1/2 teaspoons grill seasoning 6 ounces ham, thinly sliced 9 ounces Swiss cheese, thinly sliced 6 challah rolls, split 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce 18 dill pickle slices (except pickles are GROSS, so I don’t use that) 1. In a small bowl, stir together the mayonnaise, lime juice and ground cumin. Set aside. 2. In a medium bowl, combine the ground pork and grill seasoning. Form into 6 patties. 3. Preheat a stovetop grill over medium-low heat. In a large nonstick skillet set over medium heat, cook the patties for 6 minutes per side. During the final 2 minutes, top each patty with an equal amount of ham and cheese. Cover the skillet and cook until the cheese melts. 4. Spread the mayonnaise mixture on the cut sides of each roll. Place a patty on each roll bottom, top with 1/3 cup shredded lettuce, 3 pickles and set the roll top into place. 5. Arrange the burgers on the grill. Weight the burgers using a heavy pan, such as a cast-iron skillet. Cook until crispy and grill marks appear, 1 to 2 minutes. Flip the burgers and repeat. Slide15: My new purse, my disciple’s disciple gave it to me. She’s great. We went shopping last week and I said I liked that purse and she bought it the next day. Don’t you love it when students do that. Slide16: This is where I spent all those hours making this presentation for you. Say “Hi” to MarySlide17: These are all the books I supposedly reading. Well, some I am, but others yeah I haven’t even touched. Can you believe I have gathered all these books in just one year? Sick.Slide18: Winnie the Pooh Water glass that I drink a lot of water from The best part of my apartment. The bed. I mean come on, doesn’t it look comfy. It’s hard to get out of bed sometimes. Yes, I know you are agreeing. I know its blank, but I don’t know what to put in there. I still haven’t figured it out. The year is almost over too.Slide19: Martha and Mary. I had to include it because it’s a great subject we all love and hate to discuss.Slide20: Each month Rachel Ray has a center piece of the month. Well this is an old one from last year. Isn’t it cute. I did it for Women’s Brunch, my disciple helped me. Nothing like quality time.Slide21: You cannot really tell, but these are creamy, fruity stuffed French toast hearts. Yes another Rachel Ray recipe. You can find it her website if you care. You do not have the permission to view this presentation. In order to view it, please contact the author of the presentation.
