Getting the Idea :

Getting the Idea Right Most people like to talk, text, and socialize a lot. Wrong Most people like to talk a lot. They like to text a lot too. They also like to socialize.

Correct :

Correct The first sentence was right because the sentences weren’t choppy and smoothly blended into each other.

Incorrect :

Incorrect The second one made sense, but it was made up of very short sentences that are choppy. These sentences might confuse the reader and distract them from the main point of the passage.

Varying Sentences :

Varying Sentences You should always vary sentence lengths. Having a short sentence after a long sentence gives the passage a shifting structure. A paragraph with almost all short or long sentences is not balanced.

Quiz :

Quiz Which is correct? I would like to go to Hawaii. I would also like to go to California. New York sounds like an exciting place too. I would like to visit Hawaii, California, and New York.
